The Rose Garden Government (formerly known as Jayalalithaa Rose Garden, Centenary Rose Park and Nootrandu Roja Poonga) is located on the slopes of Elk Hill in Vijayanagaram city Ooty in Tamil Nadu, India at an altitude of 2200 meters.

Establishment
Rose Garden was established in Vijayanagaram in the city of Ooty to commemorate the Centenary Flower Show at Government Botanical Gardens, Udagamandalam in May 1995. The flowers are arranged on five curved terraces of four hectares. The garden is managed by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department.

Features
Ooty has a unique tropical mountain climate, then this park has ideal climatic conditions to plant roses. Low temperature variation and uniform rainfall distribution, resulting in a long flowering season. The park is visited by thousands of tourists throughout the year, even in the winter when the season is not blooming.
Initially, when the garden was developed, 1,919 varieties of roses with 17,256 rose plants were planted. Today there are over 20,000 varieties of roses from 2,800 cultivars. It is one of the largest collection of roses in India.
The rose collection includes Miniature Roses, Ramblers, Hybrid Tea Roses, Yakimour, Polyanthas, Papagena, Floribunda and unusual color roses such as green and black. The varieties of rose plants grown here are collected from various sources around the world.
This park has been styled with rose tunnel, pergola and bowers with rose vines. The garden slopes also feature Nila Maadam, an observation platform. From Nila Maadam, tourists can observe the whole rose garden. This park also features an angel statue in the middle of roses.
Recognition
The rose garden received the Garden of Excellence Award as the best rose garden in South Asia, from the World Federation of Rose Societies in May 2006, in Osaka, Japan. This garden is one of 35 gardens around the world that received this award
