Laminated paper is the paper used for the laminate. Usually on particles or fiberboards provide a handsome and resistant surface for use as furniture, decorating panels and flooring.

Laminates consist of one or several layers, each having different functions. This base is most commonly particles-or fiberboards, then some layers of absorbent kraft paper. The last layer is the decorating paper covered with overlay . The laminated paper is covered with an inert, often melamine, resin which is healed to form a hard composite with a paper structure. The laminate may also have a layer on the back side of laminating kraft to compensate for the tension created by the upper side laminate.

Less expensive particles may have only kraft laminating layers to provide surface absorption and resilience to wear.

The decoration paper can also be processed under heat and low/high pressure to create melamine laminate sheets, which have multiple applications.

Kraft paper absorb

Kraft absorbent paper is normal kraft paper with controlled absorption, which means a high porosity level. It is made of low kappa low kappa wood with good uniformity. Grammage is 80 - 120 g/m 2 and usually 2-4 layers are used.

Decorations paper

Decorative paper is the most important of laminated paper as it provides the visual appearance of the laminate. The impregnation resin and cellulose have the same refractive index which means that the paper cellulose fibers appear as shadows and only visible dyes and pigments. Because of this decoration paper demands extreme hygiene and is produced only on small paper machines with gramatures 50 - 150 g/m 2 .

Overlay

Overlay paper has a gramature of 18 - 50 m 2 and is made of pure cellulose, so it must be made from well-defined pulp. Being transparent after impregnation allows the appearance of decorating paper.

Laminating kraft

Kraft laminating has a gramity of 70 - 150 g/m 2 and is a solid concentrated kraft paper.
