Paper Airplane is an album by Alison Krauss and Union Station. The album was released on April 12, 2011 and marked Krauss's fourteenth album and its first release with Union Station since Lonely Runs Both Ways in 2004. This includes cover versions of "My Opening Farewell" and "Dimming of the Day ", originally recorded by Jackson Browne and Richard Thompson, respectively.
The album's main single, the title track, was released to country music radio and Adult alternative radio album on March 28, 2011; However, the single failed to include the Billboard music chart .

Thom Jurek from AllMusic gave the four-star 'Airplane Paper , describing it as melancholy, with a song revolving around the experiment theme and persistence. He also praised the cover versions of "Dimming of the Day" and "My Opening Farewell". He thought the album was polished yet authentic.
Andrew Greer of Christianity Today also respects Paper Aeroplane with four stars, finds it "a very beautiful eleven tune cannons," and added, "even though their ghosts are very heavy, the real covering of Airplane , proving the band's spiritual sensitivity even without the usual prominent band of faith. "The album won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classic.
Commercial Paper Airplane sold about 83,000 copies during its first week of release, making it Krauss's number one debut album on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. This is also the highest entry for Krauss on Billboard 200, where he debuted at number three.
