Meat paper is kraft paper. Originally sold to butchers to wrap meat and fish, meat paper is now used for a variety of purposes, especially in basic education where it is used for arts and crafts, such as hanging art. Many high schools use meat paper for club posters, and upcoming events. This is a cheap but sturdy paper that is sold in large rolls. Meat paper is usually white or reddish, made of kraft pulp and is generally considered to have a density between 30 lb/3000 sq ft (45 g/m 2 ) and 50 lb/3000 sq ft (81 g/m 2 ).

Companies moving with butcher paper to pack porcelain, glass and other fragile items for safe transportation. The use of printed paper, such as newspapers, can transfer ink to packaged goods that cause damage.
