Plot

Princess Elizabeth plans to marry Prince Ronald, who is almost perfect. However, a dragon arrives that destroys his castle, kidnaps Ronald, and burns all his clothes, so he has to find something to wear, and his only option is a paper bag. Elizabeth follows dragons and Ronald, and tries to save her fiancé, challenging dragons to burn the forest with fire and fly around the world. Dragon completes the task but after flying around the world a second time becomes tired and asleep. Elizabeth saves Ronald, who is ungrateful and tells him to come back when she looks more like a princess. Elizabeth summoned Ronald out for his impoliteness, refused him as a useless bum and went dancing into the sunset to live his own life.

Character

  • Princess Elizabeth: A brave, intelligent and tough young woman, Elizabeth's attempt to save Ronald from the dragon shows her how unworthy Ronald is his loyalty and affection.
  • Prince Ronald : Ronald is revealed to be a narcissistic and selfish prince. She has chosen Elizabeth for the queen, though she does not really love her. When the dragon attacks the castle and kidnaps her, Elizabeth tries hard to save her, but she does not appreciate the love she has shown him. Elizabeth realized that she was shallow, arrogant and cruel and they parted ways.
  • Dragon: He is a typical depiction of European dragons, with green scaly skin, crocodile's belly, two small wings, and four scaly legs with eagle claws. He can breathe fire, which places it at the very top of the animal food chain and makes it physically superior to mankind in the medieval period of time in which the story is organized. The flames are very strong. In the plot, he attacks Princess Elizabeth's castle and kidnaps Prince Ronald. He can be very inconsiderate, but has a good side: his intolerance of irreverence and ignorance is shown in the show version when he strikes Ronald at the end instead of just falling to his defeat as he did in the book.

Edition

In some editions, the end of the book has been edited a bit for global audiences with Elizabeth's contempt for Ronald, "vagrant", which turned into a "frog." In 2013, Adri wrote an interactive fiction game based on the book.

The Paper Bag Princess The 25th Anniversary Edition: The Story Behind the Story (2005), a colorful hardback, reveals the inspiration behind this book. It features interviews and behind the scenes with writers, and offers a look at the impact of books around the world.

The book was also adapted into a cartoon, as part of the A Bunch of Munsch animated series.

The Munsch edition that personally reads his story has also been uploaded to platforms like Youtube .
