The Pakistan Board of Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has been working since its inception in 1957 as a combined newspaper editor in Pakistan for campaigning on the defense of press freedom and the right to access information in the service of democratic practice and strengthening democratic institutions in the country. However, one of the editors of the Business Recorders claimed this group was founded in 1958 by the merger of the Pakistan Newspaper Reader Conference and the Pakistan Newspaper Editors Board. In 2014, his President is Mujeebur Rehman Shami. The members of this prestigious newspaper organization Editor has also adopted a Code of Practice which sets norms to keep the dignity of print media as a high standard non-partisan and professional in the publication of members in connection with the publication of news, views, comments and other writings.

Work

CPNE has been constantly in dialogue with the Government of Pakistan and the Provincial Government on the issue of press freedom. The President or Prime Minister of Pakistan has been the main guest of the annual event held annually by CPNE to highlight the work of CPNE and its achievements in securing press freedom and working relationships between CPNE and the government in the service of press freedom and access to information.

CPNE has Media Monitoring Cell and has maintained a collaborative relationship with several international print media organizations and is also seeking promotion of bilateral and regional relationships among the editors of regional newspapers of countries in the region and the world. In accordance with the UN Charter, the CPNE in its code of ethics has placed considerable pressure on defending fundamental human rights in which access to information is very important and important.

CPNE has sponsored collaboration at the SAARC level and at the bilateral level with neighboring countries.

The CPNE International Relations Committee is now looking for expanded bilateral and regional relations in the print media so that a friendly grasp of print media at the editorial level of newspapers is promoted and cemented.
