Plot

The paper plane contest is being held at Dunder Mifflin by a new paper supplier. All office workers compete with each other for a $ 2,000 prize. Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper) is particularly competitive, and even as she realizes that she is showing her bad side to her boyfriend, Pete Miller (Jake Lacy), she can not help herself from destroying a packet of peanuts when she loses in the semi final. After some intense rounds, it goes down to Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and Angela Lipton (Angela Kinsey). Dwight, who is dating Esther (Nora Kirkpatrick), tries to throw the contest. Angela is flattered by the movement. However, when Esther condolences to Angela about her financial situation since her husband separated from her, she realizes that Dwight let her win out of compassion, not love. Angry, he denied Dwight's mercy and let him win the contest.

Meanwhile, Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) is preparing for an acting job in a laboratory safety video arranged by his talent agent, Carla Fern (Roseanne Barr). The directors constantly had to persuade him to act excessively, and he backed away from filming the scene using an eyewash, as he had an aversion to everything that was fired into his eyes. However, Carla threatens to blacklist her if she does not go with the scene. Darryl Philbin (Craig Robinson), who came as a friendly supporter, gave Andy the confidence to shoot, and in the end Andy even insisted on doing two shoots.

In counseling couples, Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam Halpert (Jenna Fischer) have been told to express appreciation for the things their spouse does for them, to be candid about the things that make them unhappy, and to refer to whatever they do not want. do but should be as an opportunity. Their practice of these three habits is rigid and formal to begin with, and becomes increasingly snarky as the day progresses. However, when Jim left the office to return to his business, he confessed to Pam that he thought the three habits were helpful and that they should take care of them. After she leaves, Pam chases after her to give her an umbrella. Jim picks up an umbrella, and then hugs his wife, who finds that he does not have the emotional conviction to hold her back. Then a flashback to their marriage with Michael, Dwight and the gang, he remembers that by marrying Jim he promises to love him despite the difficulties, and he lovingly embraces her and kisses her.

Reviews

Roth Cornet from IGN gave episodes 8.5 out of 10, showing a "great" episode. He praised the last scene, and said that Pam's decision was "a very simple emotional change". He is free to balance the character and feels that "the rest of the episode is entertaining and well-constructed, if not appallingly cute." And Forcella of Fanatic TV conferred the episode four of five stars, summarizing that "A cute episode of The Office, highlighted by Toby's clumsiness, Dwight's madness and Kevin's pride, was held back by another trip to the boring and boring path of Pam.

Nick Campbell of TV.com gave the episode a more moderate review, writing that "The Clock Story may be the only bright spot for me in an episode that is generally without a chuckle", and it's "not a horrible episode, but basic and a bit boring." She is free of charge against the conclusions of Jim-Pam's plot, noting that the last scene is a "warm moment", though she is surprised by the placement of the scene in the overall season. Alan Sepinwall of HitFix wrote positively about the final scene, noting that "it really works", and that Krasinski and Fischer were "great" during the sequence. However, he said that "the comedy part of 'Paper Airplane' is terrible I would not think of them at all".

Erik Adams from The A.V. Club awarded the episode "C" and felt that the final scene, while set to become emotional, was "hollow". He argues that the tension is not as threatening as it should be; he compares it to the second season episode of "Night Casino", which has sparked real fears about the future of Jim and Pam. He concluded: "I hope the last 'Paper Airplane' scene makes me feel something deeper." Adams was also unimpressed with the Dwight-Angela storyline, but "enjoyed Andy's day in the industry safety film - much more than anticipated" because of "unintentional hilarity" that occurred.

Roseanne Barr's appearance was later submitted by The Office's producer for "Extraordinary Guest Actor in Comedy Series", Emmy's considerations.
