Super Mario Bros 2 is a platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was first released in North America in October 1988, and in the PAL region the following year. Super Mario Bros 2 has been re-created or re-released for some video games console.
Super Mario Bros.'s western release is based on Yume K? J?: Doki Doki Panic , game Family Disk Computer System to tie in with Fuji Television's media technology expo, called Yume K? j? ("Dream Factory"). The characters, enemies, and themes of the game are meant to reflect the mascots and festival themes. After Nintendo of America found the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2 (later released internationally as Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels ) became too difficult and similar to its predecessor, Yume K? j?: Doki Doki Panic modified to Super Mario Bros 2 for release outside Japan.
This game is commercially successful, leading to its release in Japan for Family Computers as Super Mario USA . It was re-released as part of the Super Mario All-Stars collection, as well as in the form of Super Mario Advance for the Game Boy Advance handheld system.

Gameplay
Super Mario Bros 2 is a 2D side-scrolling platform game. The purpose of the game is to navigate the player's character through the Subcon dream world and defeat the main Wart antagonist. Before each stage, players choose one of four different protagonists to use: Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool. Unlike the previous game, this game does not have multiplayer. The four characters can run, jump, and climb stairs or vines, but each character has a unique power that causes them to be controlled differently. For example, Luigi can jump the most; Mario can jump the farthest; Princess Toadstool can float in the air; Toad's power allows him to pick up items quickly. In contrast to the original Super Mario Bros. , which only moves from left to right, players can move left or right, as well as vertically in waterfalls, clouds and cave levels. Unlike other Mario games, characters can not defeat enemies by jumping on them; but they can stand, rise, and jump to the enemy. Instead, characters take and throw objects to enemies, or throw enemies, defeat them. These objects include vegetables picked from the ground or other enemies.
The game consists of 20 different levels in seven "worlds" consisting of Subcon. Every world has three levels, except World 7, which has two levels. Every world has a specific theme that determines the constraints and enemies faced in its level, such as the desert region with dangerous glacier sand areas and snowy with slippery surfaces. The levels contain several sections or rooms connected through a door or staircase. Some rooms can be accessed by inserting a certain jar. The magic potion found at each level is used to temporarily access the "Sub-space", an inverted area where players can collect coins and mushrooms that improve maximum health of the characters. In addition, certain jars, when included in Sub-space, will pass players to the next world, passing the level altogether. Other items available include cherries, collected to get a Starman; and POW blocks, which can be used to quickly destroy all the visible enemies on the screen.
Players start Super Mario Bros 2 with three extra lives, missing each time a player character loses all health from enemies or hazard damage or when a character falls off the screen. Players can recharge health by collecting a floating heart that appears after defeating a number of enemies. Players will receive Game Over after the last lost life, although players can continue up to twice in one game. Additional extra life can be obtained by collecting the hidden 1-Up Mushrooms or by using coins collected from the Sub-space to win the slot machine minigame played between the levels.

Plot
Mario has a dream of a ladder leading to the door to another world. A voice identifies the world as a dreamland of Subcon, and asks Mario for help in defeating the evil frog known as Wart, a tyrant who has cursed Subcon and his people. Mario suddenly wakes up and decides to tell Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach, all of whom report experiencing the same dream. The group decided to go on a picnic, but once they arrived they found a cave with a long staircase. Through the door at the top, the group is transported to Subcon, revealing their dreams become real. After defeating Wart, the Subcon people are freed and the group celebrates, but Mario suddenly wakes up in his bed, unsure whether the event is real or just a dream.
Development
Nintendo initially released a different game called Super Mario Bros. on the Japanese Family Computer Disk System in 1986. The machine is an upgraded Super Mario Bros.. , with the same basic game format but adding a more complex level design, character features, and weather features. Some advanced content has been retrieved from Vs. Super Mario Bros. , a coin version operated from the original Super Mario Bros. release for the arcade. All of these factors are combined to produce additional game design with significantly higher difficulties.
Also that year, a Nintendo of America subsidiary that just completed its marketing test, and embarked on its national launch, the new Nintendo Entertainment System and its flagship game, Super Mario Bros. This American adaptation of the Famicom platform has been deliberately postponed after a 1983 video game crash, a regional market catastrophe that the Japanese market is not directly experiencing. Subsidiaries do not want the increasingly popular Mario series known for their utmost frustration and thus inaccessible to recover, transfiguring, and expanding the market - or to be stylistically outdated at the time of Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 finally get converted to NES, local, and mass-produced cartridge format for America. Leveraging enough regional autonomy to avoid the risk of franchise popularity in this emerging market, they rejected the American release of this game and instead requested a newer and more affable sequel to Super Mario Bros.. for non-Japanese world.
What ended up being the new game started as a prototype, developed and directed by Kensuke Tanabe and implemented by Nintendo's programming partner, SRD. This game model emphasizes vertical scrolling levels with two players throwing at each other, and rising by throwing and stacking blocks. However, the prototypical implementation of scrolling and multi-player action is considered to be beyond the physical capabilities of Nintendo hardware at the time, and the gameplay is ultimately perceived as lacking.
Not compromising on gameplay, Tanabe postponed prototype development until finally receiving instructions to use Yume K? J? in-game mascot. Working closely with Shigeru Miyamoto's team, they greatly expanded the game and developed Yume K? J?: Doki Doki Panic for Family Computer Disk System, was released in Japan on July 10, 1987.
The title is Yume K? J?: Doki Doki Panic comes from "doki doki", Japanese onomatopoeia for fast pounding heart sounds. The title and concept of the game character was inspired by the licensing agreement between Nintendo and Fuji Television to promote the broadcaster Yume K? J? The '87 show, which showcased some of the latest TV shows and other products at the time. Yume K? J? The festival mascot became the protagonist of the game, a family consisting of Imajin's son, his girlfriend Lina, and his parents, Mama and Papa. The rest of the game characters, including the main villain named Mamu, were created by Nintendo for the project. Yume K? j?: Doki Doki Panic takes place in a book with an Arabic background. The four characters can be played optionally, although the game is not completely resolved until the player cleans all levels using each protagonist.
For America's conversion to Super Mario Bros. , many graphical changes were made for the view, animation, and identity of scenes and characters. Similarities of the characters Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad are built on the model of their respective partners Imajin, Mama, Lina, and Papa. This marks the first time Mario and Luigi have different altitudes, and Miyamoto begins the animation "pounding" Luigi's leg, to justify the increased jumping ability seen in Mama's corresponding characters. Yume K? j?: Doki Doki Panic only requires a slight change for the conversion into the series Mario because it already contains familiar features: Starmen, sound effects for coins and jumps, POW blocks, war zone, and the soundtrack made by the original composer of Koji Kondo's Super Mario Bros. . To reduce the overall difficulty of the game, the designers made small technical changes. They chose not to defend Yume K? J?: Doki Doki Panic ' s main requirement to finish each level using each protagonist; therefore, this new Super Mario Bros. can be completed with just one pass by any combination of characters. And in the series tradition of Mario , they add the ability to run button B.
The Western Super Mario Bros. 2 version was so successful that it was finally released in Japan in 1992 under the title of Super Mario USA. Likewise, Nintendo later released Japan's Super Mario Bros. 2 in America in the form of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, part of a re-release compilation of Super Mario All-Stars in Super SEN. Nintendo continued to release both games, each titled Super Mario Bros. in their respective areas, including the release of Virtual Console and Wii re-releasing the Super Mario All-Stars

Super Mario All-Stars
In 1993, Nintendo released a Super Nintendo Entertainment System compilation titled Super Mario All-Stars . This includes games Super Mario Bros released for Famicom/NES. The Super Mario Bros. 2 version included in the compilation has improved graphics and sound to match the Super NES 16-bit capability, as well as minor changes in multiple collision mechanisms. It is possible to change the character after the loss of one life, while the original version allows to change it only after completing the level or when the player loses their entire life and chooses "Continue", making the game more forgiving when choosing an unskilled character at some level. The player starts with five lives instead of three, and the slot game gets an added bonus: if the player earns three seven, the player wins 10 lives. Players will also win three extra coins if they earn seven on the second and third scrolls, although they only have this opportunity once per level.
BS Super Mario USA Power Challenge
In March-April 1996, Nintendo collaborated with St.GIGA satellite radio station to release a gaiden ura or gaiden game for the Satellaview system, featuring audiovisual 16-bit enhancements similar to Super Mario All-Stars . This game is titled BS Super Mario USA Power Challenge ( BS ??????? USA ???????? < span>, B Essu S? p? Mario USA Paw? Charenji ), and like all titles Satellaview, released episodically in a number of weekly volumes. BS Super Mario USA Power Challenge was not released outside Japan and since with all other Satellaview titles have not been relaunched as stand-alone titles. This game exists currently only in ROM format and is traded online by Satellaview emulation fans.
This game takes advantage of the "SoundLink" narration (voice-style radio streaming data intended to guide players through games and provide useful hints and suggestions) and broadcast CD-quality music. Due to the nature of the SoundLink broadcast, the game is only broadcast to players between 6:00 and 7:00 on the broadcast date, where players can download games from Events Plaza in the BS-X application cartridge. One rerun of the broadcast was performed in the same weekly format from 3 June 1996 to 29 June 1996 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. The download location of BS-X for replays is changed to Bagupotamia Temple.
While the underlying gameplay itself is largely similar, new and customized content has been added. For example, the new BS version displays the scorers. Furthermore, at the beginning of the game Mario is the only playable character. Later in the game, time-dependent events occur triggering, inter alia, the possibility of using other characters. Another unique feature for this game is the inclusion of a Mario gold statue (ten totals for each chapter) hidden in various locations (including Sub-Space). The in-game sculpture collection gives the player an extra life and refills the life meter. Upon completion of the level, players can press "Select" to view some statistics such as the number of sculptures, coins, cherries, and mushrooms collected, as well as the appearance of a defeated boss.
Sebagai siaran 4 volume, setiap minggu memiliki subtitle yang berbeda. Nama-nama volume adalah:

Super Mario Advance
On March 21, 2001, Super Mario Bros. received another release, based on the All-Stars remake, as part of the Super Mario Advance , which also contains remake of Mario Bros. . Super Mario Advance was developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development, and is the launch title for Game Boy Advance. Super Mario Advance Super Mario Bros 2 includes several new features such as the addition of the Robirdo enemy, Birdo robot, replacing Mouser as World 3 boss; the addition of Yoshi Challenge , in which players can revisit the stages of searching for Yoshi Eggs; and a new point rating system, similar to those used in the BS Super Mario USA Power Challenge . Graphic and audio enhancements appear in the form of enlarged sprites, multiple combo hits, digital voice acting, and minor styling and aesthetic changes like standard meter health changes, boss order, background, heart size, Toadstool pupae renamed "Princess Peach "which is now standard, and the inclusion of a bell to announce the Stars. This game was released for Wii U Virtual Console on July 16, 2014, in Japan and then in North America on November 6, 2014.
Super Mario Advance received the "Gold" sales award from the Association of Entertainment and Recreation Software Publishers (ELSPA), showing sales of at least 200,000 copies in the UK.
Reception
Super Mario Bros 2 produced 10 million copies sold and was the third best-selling game ever released on the Nintendo Entertainment System at the time. Nintendo Power listed Super Mario Bros 2 as the eighth Nintendo Entertainment System video game, mentions that regardless of its predecessor instead of Mario , it can stand in on his own and unique ability to take the format of the series signature. Super Mario Bros 2 was ranked 108th out of the 200 "Greatest Games of Their Time" by Monthly Electronic Games . GamesRadar rated the 6th best NES game ever made. The staff praised it and the other 8-bit games due to the bigger increase than the sequel around 2012, which they thought only saw small improvements.
When it was relaunched in 2001 as the Super Mario Advance it received generally positive reviews, collecting an 84% aggregate score on Metacritic. One reviewer concludes "all nostalgia and historical influence is set aside, Super Mario Bros. is still a decent game to play just because of its own game", also saying that "the only reason you may not want to take it is if... you already have it in another form ". However, GameSpot thinks that Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World will be a better choice for launch games considering their respective popularity; both titles were eventually also recreated as part of the Super Mario Advance series. Instead, IGN praised the choice, calling it "one of the most refined and creative platformers of this era". The game is named after one of the best IGN game games, saying it offers greater diversity in graphics and gameplay than the original, making it a great bridge game between other NES Mario titles. ScrewAttack is named Wart's battle theme in the Top 10 Final 8-Bit Boss Theme list.
Legacy
Many elements in Super Mario Bros. have survived in the next sequel and in related series. The game adds the ability to lift and cast enemies and objects - a decisive feature of the earliest prototypes - that have become part of the permanent repertoire of the Mario series . His abilities appear in Super Mario Bros. , Donkey Kong (Game Boy) , Super Mario World , Super Mario Land 2: 6 Coins Gold , Super Mario 64 , Super Mario Sunshine , Mario vs. Donkey Kong , Super Mario 64 DS , Super Mario Bros Baru. , Super Paper Mario , Super Mario Bros. New Wii , Super Mario Galaxy , Super Mario Galaxy 2 , Super Mario Bros. U New, and Super Mario 3D World . The Wii U Game Super Mario 3D World shows playable characters equal to the same basic physical capabilities of Super Mario Bros 2 .
Serial New Super Mario Bros. also includes elements and ideas that were originally proposed for this game's prototype. The multi-player element was originally proposed, eventually embodied in a Wii game, where up to four players can play competitively or cooperatively. This gameplay combines competitive elements from the original Mario Bros. , with the Super Mario Bros. platform. Vertical scrolling multiplayer levels often exist in this game as well as other games in the series that follow after the Wii release.
Many of the characters of Super Mario Bros. have been assimilated into the larger Mario universe as well, such as Birdo, Pokeys, Bob-ombs, and Shy Guys. This is the first game where Princess Toadstool and Toad are displayed as playable characters. Princess Peach eventually starred in other Mario games like Super Princess Peach . Toad has received supporting roles in the future Mario and has starred in games like Wario's Woods , Super Mario Bros. Wii , and Captain of the Frog : Treasure Tracer . Super Mario Bros 2 is the first game in which Luigi receives the physical appearance he has today; especially, he is taller than Mario. In the series Super Smash Bros. , Peach not only has the ability to pick and throw vegetables, but he can also float in the air both in the same way as in this game. Super Smash Bros. Melee has a stage called Mushroom Kingdom II , which is based on Super Mario Bros. , although the visuals are more similar. to the version seen in Super Mario All-Stars . The stage also has characters in the form of their 2D sprites, including Pidgit and Birdo. Luigi's Leap in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U displaying the "fluttering" animated replication that shapes the jump cycle in this game, and both versions feature red grass that randomly appears gradually, with their catchy characters to reveal random items, similar to what happens in the game. The 1989 cartoon television series Super Mario Bros Super Show! shows characters from Super Mario Bros 2 .
